Activities
To bring out the creative streak in every child and develop his or her cultural and aesthetic abilities, Calorx Pre School offers a series of activities in various creative areas. It has separate classrooms for each activity which are well equipped and are conducted by trained and dedicated teachers. These activities are divided into two categories namely :-
CONCEPTUAL AND C0-CURRICULAR
CONCEPTUAL:
Kalorex Pre Schools are recognized for its love and care given to its students. The culture encircles around respectful interaction with children and wonderful learning experiences. The curriculum adopted is for age specific learning. The curriculum is designed to help children know their world. Meaningful learning experiences drawn from nature, objects, people etc are provided to develop the skills of recognition, perception, understanding, distinguishing, comprehending and retention.
The following are the practices at Kalorex Pre School which ensures an overall development in its students:
Areas of Learning: Language, General Awareness, Math, Music, Art and Craft, Games – are the areas of learning.
Circle Time: It’s the time to share general information and ideas with the children. Children are encouraged to come out with their cute experiences and thinking. The basic idea is to know the children at a personal level and simultaneously the children learn to express themselves and also develop their social skills. Name Game, Mystery Box, Guess Who – are some of the activities.
Reading: The children are exposed to the world of books. It is to inculcate in them love for reading and appreciation of books at this tender age itself. Initially it is started with picture reading and then to formal reading. Kalorex Pre School intend in helping children read the books at a very early age and so has adopted a UK based reading programme – Jolly Phonics.”
Writing: Before introducing the formal writing, great emphasis is given on eye – hand co ordination and development of fine motor skills. Many activities are conducted for the same like pouring, filling, clipping, beading, lacing, clay work etc and then slowly shifting to colouring with crayons. A great care is taken to ensure the proper grip of pencils.
General Awareness: The curriculum facilitates learning of immediate surroundings, people and community. It plays an important role in developing sensitivity to the environment, developing observational skills and learning to care and nurture. Activities like enactment of scenario – market, railway station etc, field trips – Dinosaur Park, Farms etc are included.
Math: The curriculum helps the children relate math with day to day life situations. The concepts are taught in a play way method by including activities like balloon bursting, stories, games etc. A lot of logical thinking assignments based on the concepts taught are included here.
CO-CURRICULAR:
Art and Craft: The children learn to be creative. The activities are carefully chosen so as to include all the mediums such as painting, drawing, origami, crayoning, tie & dye. Activities to make children aware of our culture and festivals are drawn out – such as making national flags, ‘rakhi’ making, ‘diya’ decoration, making ‘santa star’, kites etc.
Dance and Music: The children not only develop the sense of rhyme and rhythm but also enhance their confidence level. The children are taught to sing and dance and then are given chance to come on the stage on occasions like recitation day, special assemblies and parents’ day.
Games: The children learn to co-ordinate themselves, learn to work in team and show independence thereby increasing their confidence level. Guidelines are given by the teachers to play carom, to skip, to play with a bat and a ball, basket a ball. Games like lock and key and dog and the bone etc are played. Mass PT is also conducted for proper co ordination and physical exercise.
Block play and puzzles – For creative and logical thinking.
Story telling – For fun, listening skill and value education.
Public speaking – For power of expression and confidence building.
Puppet show – Enjoyment.
Cookery – Fun and develop social skills.
Trips – To interact with the community and understand culture and life styles / simply to freak out.
Table manners and healthy eating habits – for their well being.
